Unlock OPPO R5/R5s & Install TWRP Recovery 3.2.1-0 - Easy Tutorial

An easy guide to unlock OPPO R5/R5s (international version only) and install latest TWRP recovery, is now available at ShizHub. How To Unlock and Install TWRP Recovery On OPPO R5/R5s

WARNING: Unlocking the bootloader will erase all data on your device! Before proceeding, ensure the data you would like to retain is backed up to your PC and/or your Google account, or equivalent. We (ShizHub Team) are not responsible if anything happen to your device while following this tutorial.

Requirements:

1. Make sure your computer has working adb and fastboot. Setup instructions can be found here.
2. Enable USB Debugging on your device. [Tutorial]
3. Proper USB driver is installed. [Download]

How To Unlock OPPO R5/R5s

1. Download Project Spectrum recovery, Project Spectrum and unlockable bootloader zip file.
2. Once done, connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
3. Now copy all downloaded files on the root of SD Card. 
4. After that disconnect your mobile from PC.
5. Then boot into recovery. To do so, first turn off your device then press Volume Down and Power together.
6. After that first flash Project Spectrum recovery zip and reboot to recovery again. Then flash Project Spectrum and unlockable bootloader respectively.
7. Reboot your mobile and then reconnect it to your PC.
8. Now on your computer open a command prompt (on Windows) or terminal (on Linux or macOS) window, and type: adb reboot bootloader . You can also boot your OPPO R5/R5s to fastboot mode by pressing Volume Up + Power when the device power is off.
9. To confirm the device is connected in fastboot mode or not, type: fastboot devices.
10. Once confirmed, type the following command to unlock the bootloader: fastboot oem unlock.
11. The device should automatically reboot, if not then reboot it manually.
12. Since the device resets completely, you will need to re-enable USB debugging for the next recovery installation process.

How To Install TWRP Recovery 3.2.1-0 on OPPO R5/R5s

1. Download TWRP.
2. Once done, connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
3. Now on your computer open a command prompt (on Windows) or terminal (on Linux or macOS) window, and type: adb reboot bootloader . You can also boot your OPPO R5/R5s to fastboot mode by pressing Volume Up + Power.
4. To confirm the device is connected in fastboot mode or not, type: fastboot devices.
5. Once confirmed, type the following command to flash TWRP Recovery: fastboot flash recovery twrp-x.x.x-x-r5.img. [Note: Replace TWRP file name with your downloaded file name]
6. The device should automatically reboot, if not then reboot it manually.

Tip: To boot into recovery first turn off your OPPO R5/R5s and then press and hold Volume Down and Power button together.

That’s it! You now have an unlocked OPPO R5/R5s with latest supported TWRP Recovery installed.
